Drama For Youth Work: Symposium
Crooked House Theatre has partnered with Asociación Juvenil Teatral ON&OFF, from Spain, and BiondekBühne Baden, from Austria, to develop free online drama resources for youth workers across Europe. The project, called Drama for Youth Work, (more information can be found on our website) is funded by the Erasmus+ Programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport in Europe.
We created 45 videos of drama activities which can be used to explore a range of topics relevant to youth work such as gender, social inclusion, freedom, diversity, equality and multiculturalism. The videos will be accompanied by detailed descriptions of each activity, and an online handbook for all users.
We are delighted to invite you to a symposium exploring the resources we have made. The symposium will also feature contributions from youth workers in Europe who will give their perspectives on working with young people in contexts different to Ireland. It will be held in the School of Education on the North Campus of Maynooth University, County Kildare, on Tuesday, 21st January from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
During the day participants will get the opportunity to test out some of the videos in afternoon workshops. They will also hear the latest research on how theatre can impact positively on young people’s development, and they will have the chance to share their own experiences of working with young people in Ireland.
The Drama for Youth Work Symposium is co-hosted by the Department of Applied Social Studies in Maynooth University.
Attendance is free, and much and refreshments are also provided free. However, you must register to attend. Please do so here: https://www.eventbrite.es/e/drama-for-youth-work-symposium-tickets-89743299625 , or click the image.
