Presentation to the Dáil
21st February 2017
Thank you to Fiona O'Loughlin, TD for inviting Crooked House and Kildare Youth Theatre to Dáil Éireann (the Irish parliament) on Tuesday 21st February 2017 to make a presentation to the Joint Oireachtas Committee on Education and Skills about the role we find collaborative theatre-making plays in promoting resilience in young people.
Peter Hussey presented his early research into the impact of work in Kildare Youth Theatre (begins at 0.40 minutes in), followed by questions from the committee (Peter speaks again about schools at 1.32).
Attending in support were KYT members Elliot Nolan, Eadaoin Barrett, Caolan Dundon, and Jerry Chiemaka Michael Chikwe. We got a tour of the Dáil, and were delighted to have the chance to make the case for youth theatre in this arena.
See the Reading Room section for related writing on the topic.
